Sad Times...........

come to the forefront for me this week. Saturday 18th would have been my dad's 84th birthday and Monday the 20th will be the 2nd anniversary of my mum's sudden death. It's incredible how much you miss them when they're not here anymore. So this weekend will be spent remembering good times and visiting the cemetery.

My music choice for today is going to be more upbeat and you can't beat a bit of Foreigner. This is one of my favourite songs of theirs.

Foreigner - That Was Yesterday

Enjoy!

My Love......

of rock music is fairly well known to most who know me.When I set up my blog it was for me to keep an online diary of my cards/scrapbook pages and also for my love of rock music. The crafting kind of took over the blog and very little was posted of my music loves. I got swamped under trying to keep the blog going and feeling I needed to visit other blogs to leave comments and that wasn't what it was all supposed to be about. It was fantastic that people took the time out to comment on my cards but that wasn't why I set it up.So the crafting has taken a back seat on the blog for a while and I feel much happier about blogging again,BUT not with crafty things.I'm going back to pleasing myself with my music. Please feel free to unfollow me if you want.I do understand. I mainly keep my cards on Facebook now,but only as a central point for me and no one needs to feel they have to comment on them there.

Anyway....enough of all that drivel.I'm posting a song that I love,by a band I love.I hope some people do actually take time out to listen to the songs,as they're not all what you'd expect.

Luv a Latte

Have been meaning to blog this card for the last few days and finally got round to it. I coloured the image when I was visiting Susan. I took Louis over for a few hours to play with her two boys. She's called Luv A Latte and is a Simply Sassy stamp from Sugar Nellie. She's coloured with Copics (no surprises there)

The papers are MME.Sentiment is SU Oh So Many Sayings and is stamped inside the punched out area using the SU Word Window punch. The other punch is a Martha Stewart punch around the page.Buttons and pearls from stash.

Finally got the electrics fitted in the cabin. Was out today and chose the light fitting for it.Just need to get some flooring then it's off to Ikea to kit it out!

My Fair Lady

I was asked to make a 50th Birthday card and decided to use this digi image from Sassy Studio Designs. I've coloured her with my copic markers. The card is cut using a Go Kreate die and the white paper is actually embossed although it's not showing very well. It's by Doodlebug. The ribbon, maribou feathers and satin flowers are all from a local haberdashers. The sentiment I printed on the PC and cut out using a Spellbinders Fancy Tag die. The bling round it is made specifically for these dies and you just peel them and stick.

I still feel there's something missing from this card. Not sure what though.Probably the fact it's pretty plain and simple for me..lol

Sugar Bowl Challenge # 65

Wow I can't believe I've managed to make another challenge card. I've not posted this much for a while. Well at least it's a lot for me!...lol.

The challenge over at The Sugar Bowl was to follow Maria Therese's sketch and the option of blue.I've used the Simply Sassy image from Sugar Nellie called Team Spirit and coloured her with my Copic Markers in colours to match the gorgeous Bo Bunny Liberty papers. The pom poms I made using a strip of blue card and cutting a fringe all along it and scrunching it up. I
thought it looked quite effective. The star is a Sizzix die and the alphabet stamps are from Fiskars.I've dotted all around the blue cardstock with my white gel pen. The eyelets are just set in a line on a plain piece of white card.

Here's a close up picture of the hand made pom poms

Off to lie down in a dark room now....lol.

Only joking!

I've nearly finished another card so watch this space!

Sugar Bowl Challenge 64

We'd been having little challenges on the Sugar Nellie Facebook page and one had been funky hair colours. As usual I missed the deadline.although in all fairness I was only just back my holidays. So instead I used the image for the Sugar Bowl Challenge #64 Kiki's Sketch. The image is a Simply Sassy called Apple Of My Eye and is coloured with Copic Markers. Her hair is a funky green colour, and I've added some glossy accents to the apples. The papers are a mixture of Craft Creations,MME and BG. I love this sentiment as it reminds me of something my dad used to always say to me. It's by Unity Stamps. The sentiment is cut out with an X Cut set of nesties.Flowers and ribbons from stash.

As I mentioned I'm entering it into the Sugar Bowl Challenge

I also thought I'd share another picture with you.I moved house a few months ago and as the garden is pretty big and I don't have a craft room that I'd buy a log cabin to use as my craft studio. All my friends on Facebook have been getting kept up to date with the progress of it.It's not quite finished yet as I have to get the electrics installed, but I thought I'd show you a picture of it so far.
I can't wait to finally have it up and running and have my own little space.

Manga Rock Idol

I hate making cards for the male of the species but I bit the bullet and made this one for my friend's birthday using the Sugar Nellie Manga Rock Idol stamp. He's coloured with my trusty copic markers. The cardstock is Bazzill and I can't remember what the PP is.Possibly Crate. The star punch is by EK Success.Sentiment is by LOTV.Star is a Sizzix die and the gorgeous large button I got in Bee Crafty in Elgin.I hadn't finished this card when I went on holiday so got the chance to finish it when I went to The HOS in Elgin.

I had a wonderful time on holiday in Lossiemouth.Met Karen,Kate,Erika,Sharon,Kath and Debbi and also met an old school friend who now owns a golf course and tea room just outside Lossie. What a small world.

Sugar Addicts Showcase Sunday

Well I was delighted when Elaine asked me to be part of the Sugar Nellie Blog Showcase Sunday. How could I refuse. I've been a sugar addict since the beginning.
The card I've made is using the lovely Simply Sassy stamp Butterflies and Pigtails available from Funkykits.
I've coloured her using my Copic markers as always. She was a delight to colour.I cut her out using the Xyron Shapez nesties that are made by Spellbinders. This is Frame 5.Can't remember what the papers are.Think it might be Papermania and the purple with the butterflies is Kanban. The flowers are from WOC and Prima. The little butterflies are a Marianne Die.

I can't thank Elaine enough for asking me and am so honoured to have been asked.

Sugar Bowl Challenge 63

I've had this gorgeous Simply Sassy stamp coloured and the SU papers picked out to match for ages but never got round to making the card. So I decided to use Erika's fab sketch over at The Sugar Bowl and finally get the card made. The flowers were made using the Peony nesties and the middles are just little bits of twine made into little circles. The tag is cut from a Go Kreate die. As always it's coloured with Copic markers.

I'm off to try and finish another card I've got half finished and hopefully get it blogged soon.
As I mentioned I'm entering this card into The Sugar Bowl Challenge.

Canvas

I popped along to Damselfly crafts in Glasgow a few weeks ago to see my bloggy buddy Lorraine as she was doing classes. I hadn't been going to do one but after seeing her fabulous canvas I decided I would. I also met up with Susan and Sandy another two friends who also took part. It's made using Tim Holtz die cuts and a Sizzix flower (one for the list)

I had a great time and we were kept amused by Lorraine's friend's wee girl who was painting ceramics. She was a wee sweetie.

Well I suppose I should try to finish one of the 4 cards I've got half made. As usual I can't decide what to do with them.
Schools are on holiday here now so I better go enjoy the sun with Louis while it's still shining.

Simply Sassy

Made this card a few weeks back. It's one of the fabby Simply Sassy range from Sugar Nellie.Krista the artist has some fantastic images and they've been made into rubber stamps which are just a dream to colour. It's an odd shaped card as it was originally an 8x8 scalloped but I cut the top and bottom scallops off as I'd originally planned to enter it in a sketch challenge a few weeks ago,but as usual never got it posted in time. The gorgeous papers are Nitwits, but not the digi download ones. These I bought last summer in my yearly pilgrimage to Sugar Nellie's bricks and mortar shop in Elgin

Rockdude

This is a card I was asked to make by my friend Stu for his best friend's birthday. They're both rockdude's and play guitar so I decided to use this Kenny K digi image called Rock Dude.
I wanted the card to look like ripped jeans,so used denim effect paper and ripped a hole in it where I stamped the sentiment. I used my Zutter Distrezz-It-All around all the edges. I love this gadget as it saves time and can do more than one sheet at a time. I used my white highlighter pen to do the faux stitches.Added the little pocket and the music charm. Simples!

I'm also delighted to receive an award from Shazza at a Time To Craft. I've not been blogging for a while but Shazza always visits and comments. If not here on Facebook. So I can't thank her enough.

There are a couple of conditions for the award.

You have been TAGGED and want to participate? Then create a post where you post the 'LOVE BLOG' image. You should also blog the persons link that gave you the award and inform her/him that you accept the award. You can then choose 3 - 5 favourite blogs which you also link in your post, then each blogger will inform you that they have been tagged

The aim of this action is that we bring unknown, good blogs to light,so I would ask you not to blog fellow bloggers that already have 3,000 followers

I'm just going to post a few blogs as I look at so many but just want to highlight these as they always leave comments on my blog, even if I've been gone a while

Where Did 2010 Go?

Well to be honest I'm glad to see the back of 2010. My lack of blogging was due to having an "Annus Horriblus" as HRH would say. I caught the winter vomiting bug last January and it all went downhill from there. It took weeks to recover from that and it left me with constant dizziness which is a nightmare. It has such an impact on your life. Eventually in July my GP started me on tablets to stop the dizzy spells and referred me to an ENT surgeon.. Then in August my mum passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly. That was a nightmare too. She'd only been in hospital for little less than 48 hours and had been expected to get home. So we had to wait on a Post Mortem which the Procurator Fiscal demanded. It took 11 days as they were behind. It had been a Pulmonary Embolism as the cause of death. Devastated was not the word for it. So coming to terms with that and the dizziness, plus the fact we're trying to sell our house,it's been very stressful. I finally saw the ENT surgeon just before Christmas, who said the winter vomiting virus had affected my inner ear and caused Labyrinthitis which had then become vertigo and can take months to recover from.Well it was the best part of a year for me.

Anyway enough rambling from me. As you can tell from my blog posts I'd only managed to make a few cards last year. The last one posted a few days before my mum died. All my craft stuff is packed up just now while we try and sell up. I've started to feel a bit more like crafting now and have been looking out some bits and pieces so I can try and make some cards. I'll try and get them posted. It may be a bit hit and miss for the immediate future or else they'll all look much the same with limited supplies...lol.

Here's hoping 2011 is a better year.

First Of Demo Cards

Well I should have some cards to post over the next few days.I can finally post my demo day cards. I don't think I've ever made so many cards in such a short space of time.I'll be surprised if my mojo hasn't gone walkabout again.
I'll start with the most popular card from the weekend. It's the lovely Post Box stamp from Sugar Nellie and coloured with Copics and using the scrummy MME Quite Contrary papers.I love the bright fresh colours of this.I used the Martha Stewart Garden Trellis punch and tried the make it look like a little fence at the front of the easel card.I finally got round to using those cute little flower pots I'd bought ages ago and never knew what to use them for. I used distress inks around the outside of the image too.

The lovely embossed border the ribbon is threaded through is a Marianne Creatable.

Apologies

Hi folks, sorry for not being around for quite a while, but I'd been unwell for a while and I'd also just lost the enthusiasm for doing any crafting. My craft stuff has been packed up since Christmas and I'd only made one card in January.I only just made my first card in all that time last week.I probably won't be posting regularly but will when I have something to show. For that reason as the message above states,I've disabled commenting (at least I hope I have if it worked). I hope you'll still pop by now and again as i'll certainly be visiting and looking at your lovely work.I just felt before too much of my time was getting taken up commenting on blogs.
I've got a demo weekend next weekend at my local craft store Craft World (previously known as Craftology) so have had card samples to make up for that,so can hopefully share them after the demo. I've had 10 lovely Sugar Nellies to play with and colour and gorgeous papers from BoBunny and MME,so that gave me the kick up the backside to get crafting again.I'll be demoing copic markers so please pop by and say hello if you'll be going.
Thanks again
