Steampunk

A bit out of the usual for me but Gaynor at Craft World asked me if I would demo last weekend at their Papercraft Extravaganza using Flex/Promarkers and this is one of the stamps she chose. It's a really big stamp by Prima called "Emily" from their Bloom Girl collection. I had to use one of my Big Shot cutting plates as a stamp block she's that big! The card is A4 in size. It was also a bit of a challenge using the Flex/Promarkers as I usually use Copics. The techniques were no problem,I just didn't know the colour combinations. So a quick Google and a look on Pinterest helped me out.

World Cardmaking Day

Seeing as today is World Cardmaking Day I thought I better try and get a card made to celebrate the fact.I've been a bit uninspired recently and not been making much apart from a few commissions.Anyway, today I decided to just knuckle down and get on with making one.I bought some gorgeous new BoBunny papers from the Flutter Butter range at Craftology. If they don't inspire me nothing will...lol.I also found my EK Success Cutter Bee Bugs that had got buried under a pile of stash and used them for the piercing. They're fabby little tools and so easy to use. They come in single row, double row and zig zag.I'll probably use them now until I'm sick of them...lol.

Not sure how much crafting I'll get done this week as we're off on holiday on Saturday to Lossiemouth for a week and have got lots to get done.Hopefully I'll manage to get something uploaded before then though.
I thought you might like to hear this little story.I took Louis to the Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow last week as it was raining and we had a great time looking round it all,he especially loves the spitfire that hangs inside. We happened to go into the Charles Rennie Mackintosh room which has his lovely wall hangings and furniture on show.Louis was having a good look at it,then suddenly piped up in a loud voice. Mummy....did they get those from Homebase......rofl.Thank goodness none of the museum curators were around, they'd have been affronted at him comparing their £250k chairs to Hombase.Me ....I was pmsl.

Mum's Birthday Card & Simon Says Stamp Challenge

Today is my mum's birthday,so as she's a lady of elder years, she wouldn't appreciate a cutesy card really so did a vintage again.I know she loves this style of card so went with it for her birthday card.I made a few Mother's Day cards in a similar style way back in March as some of you may have seen from previous blog posts back then.I really had a ball with the distressing, using my files and inking with my Distress inks, crumpling and tearing and generally getting in a mess.....lol.I'm entering it into the Simon Says Stamp Blog Challenge which is "Let's Craft With Tim" or "inspired by Tim." I'm not sure if mine qualifies as it's only got the sentiment and swirls stamped, but I definitely went wild with the distressing.
I used Stampin' Up designer papers and crumpled them up quite a bit and then opened it back out and inked all the creases with Scattered Straw Distress Ink.I used a recycled piece of corrugated cardboard and cut it to the size of the card which is 8x8 and then tore a hole in the middle and inked the edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink.The image is from a disc of vintage ladies which I printed onto Safmat (again) and applied to some card.I then distressed the edges and again applied Tea Dye.The swirls are Rhonna Farrer Autumn Leaves stamped with Versafine Vintage Sepia. The corner papers are Sandylion music score which I again distressed and inked and stamped the swirls. The sentiment is stamped on recycled packing paper and mounted on card to make it more firm. The letters are American Craft Thickers sponged with both Distress inks and lightly dusted with Ranger Perfect Pearls as are the flowers and butterfly. My mum loved it so I'm happy....lol

Copic Colour Challenge #13 & Colour Create Week 16

I thought I'd combine the Copic Colour Challenge and Colour Create. The Copic Colour Challenge was to use a sketch by Maddy and Colour Create was to use the colours chosen by Kim which were Sky Blue,Tan and Ecru with the extra option of gloss, glitter or glaze.

I'm not sure about this card, something about it i'm not liking but not sure what.I was going to just leave it off the blog, but it's done so may as well post it.I'm also not sure if those little fairies are supposed to be male or female. They have what looks like dresses but I think they look like little boys....lol

Gorjuss Girl # 2

Well I've been tearing my hair out for the last few days trying to get my camera to work to get a photo of this card.It still keeps shutting down when you click to take the pic.I've tried new batteries and took them out and warmed them up and it's still lucky to take one picture.I think a new one is called for.Anyway I finally managed to get one and only one of this card.I coloured this with my Copics before I had read Rach's tutorial so don't look too hard at it....lol.I've distressed the edges of the cardstock and papers with my BG toolkit and inked with Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress Ink as well as round the image and ticket. (It's not showing very well as it was quite bright for a change!)

A Bit Distressed......

Not quite sure who is more distressed, the card or me.I think I went a bit OTT and think it looks a bit manky looking. (Scottish for dirty). However it's done now and so will have to do.It was a rush job as usual.I had two Mother's Day cards to make. The other I finished tonight but haven't been able to take a pic as it's too dark now.
The picture was on a disc with loads of vintage images I got from my friend.I printed it out onto Letraset Safmat and stuck onto cream cardstock, then distressed it with my BG Precision Toolkit.I'm quite pleased with the result ,as I'd had the Safmat for about a year and never used it.The card is another 8x8 seeing as it's for a special occasion.

Update At Last

I can only apologise for being such a bad blogger over the last few weeks as I've been really busy. What with the scrapbooking classes and crops and also planning them,Louis having school visits as he starts primary in August and I've had loads of cards to make.So I've had no time for blogging or blog hopping.
Hopefully I'll get back on track and get round all the blogs. The scrapbooking classes went well as did the crops and the feedback has been very positive, so I'm a happy bunny.

Here's the LO I did for the first class that I said I'd post last week (oops!) As I mentioned in my last post it was a girlie page and I used the Delightful Range from My Little Yellow Bicycle. The butterflies are cut on the Cuttlebug from pink Bazzill and vellum. The vellum is then embossed and chalked with shimmer chalks and Sakura glitter pen.Prima flowers and some organza ribbon threaded through eyelets finishes it off.
This was a girls night out to the Curry Karaoke Club in Glasgow. Needless to say after a few drinks my SIL and me were up singing Bon Jovi's Living On A Prayer.....we've got the video and audio proof...lol. At least the rest of the crowd were up singing and dancing so we can't have been too bad (that's probably just my opinion!) and one guy was even playing air guitar.

Today's The Day.....

I teach my first scrapbook class at Craftology and I'm soooooo nervous. I've got 2 classes a week of a specific page and then a crop the week in between. Apart from the 2 demo days a couple of weeks ago I've no experience of teaching. Fingers crossed it'll be ok. The page is girlie themed and using the Delightful Range from My Little Yellow Bicycle and gorgeous prima flowers. I'll post the LO on Wednesday after I've done the classes.
Meanwhile here's another using the Fancy Pants range I did for the demo days.
There's also a Fancy Pants pink border acetate overlay on it.Fancy Pants pin through the ribbon and I added some pink beads to it.Used my Crop-A-Dile Big bite to set the eyelets and threaded some pink organza ribbon through. The little heart is a Fancy Pants die cut and I've finished it off with some pink Prima flowers.
This is a picture of little me when I was a baby.

Just Like Mummy...........

This is a photo taken on my 40th birthday last year of Louis and me. I did this page and called it Curls because everyone always comments on Louis' gorgeous curls and then say,he must have gotten them from his mummy. I don't normally scrap pictures of myself as I'm not very photogenic but I thought this was an ok picture for having me in it.
I used Radiant Rain on plain white 12x12 cardstock to give the blue shimmering effect. I cut the swirls with a Sizzix die from blue Bazzill and added little Prima flowers with a blue brad in the centre all along the length of them. The title is cut on the Robo from blue
Bazzill. The photo is matted onto blue Bazzill and I used my Crop-A-Dile to set the eyelets and thread through the blue organza ribbon. The journalling stamp I stamped onto vellum and written in black pen. Two large flowers with large blue brads in the centre. To finish it off I've used a sheet of 12x12 acetate and stamped swirls onto it. I've attached it to the layout with little blue brads.

Sorry about the naff photo. It's not showing the colours off very well,or the shimmer on the card.
